KartinaTV Chooses SmartLabs

SmartLabs announces signing of the agreement with KartinaTV, an IPTV broadcaster for Russian-speaking audience outside of Russia. Under the agreement, SmartLabs is going to develop for the operator STBs coming with a Wi-Fi option and SmartTUBE UI client applications.

KartinaTV is a major provider of Russian television outside of the Russian Federation, offering its services to Russian-speaking residents of Germany, USA, Israel, Great Britain running set-top boxes and software on computers and mobile devices.

The STBs designed by SmartLabs will support Adaptive Streaming to deliver video over the Web. They come with a Wi-Fi option and perform the functions of a media player. The STBs run the SmartTUBE UI application featuring a new user-friendly interface to access KartinaTV services, electronic program guide, videos and user generated content.

SML-292 Premium STBs from SmartLabs will have a powerful CPU and multiple ports and outputs including SATA, USB, external RF, optical SPDIF, HDMI with HDCP, etc. The state-of-the-art hardware combined with an intuitive user interface makes SML-292 Premium STB a highly effective tool to offer content and interactive services over the Internet and provide subscribers with easy access to the operator services.

KartinaTV director Oleg Shevchenko says that establishing of partnership with SmartLabs is a strategic decision that will certainly contribute to the efficient promotion of interactive services and strengthening of KartinaTV foothold on the new markets. Mr. Shevchenko has expressed his commitment to long-term and fruitful cooperation with SmartLabs.
