SmartLabs, the leading provider of multi-screen, multi-network solutions for video streaming, is exhibiting at the World OTT- ASIA show on the 17 June 2021.

Julie Cumberland, Head of Global Marketing at SmartLabs, says: “The APAC video on demand market has seen unprecedented growth but with this comes a whole range of new challenges. In the APAC region, one of these challenges is the increased pressure on operator’s existing cable and satellite infrastructures. SmartLabs has extensive experience from its global customer base dealing with challenges such as this and we will be on hand during the event to talk to prospects and existing customers about what the future holds and how SmartLabs can help make it more efficient, dynamic and seamless.”

Over the next four years, the Asia Pacific Video On Demand market is predicted to expand at more than 19%. SVOD (subscription video on demand) revenues rose by 34 per cent in the APAC region during 2020 to $16.3billion, with China contributing 58 per cent to this figure. Outside of China, the sector increased revenues by 47 per cent to $6.8billion.

Because of this dramatic growth, smarter operators are looking to a cloud-based service, which is easy to scale for future OTT solutions. If more capacity is required, additional data centres can be brought online, without significant investment in supplementary infrastructure and, if necessary, they can be shut down at short notice, without incurring penalties or being left with hardware that is no longer any use. This model is a good fit for more agile businesses as it helps them respond to changing audience profiles.

Julie explains: “SmartLabs’ cloud-based solutions have already helped customers and so we want to showcase our expertise in transitioning businesses into a new way of working, while highlighting our recent experience with operators who have chosen to go down this route. What’s more, if an operator chooses to work with SmartLabs for our cloud services, our turnkey solution integrates all of the components required to build an IPTV service. We manage the entire system leaving customers to focus on sourcing engaging content and increasing their subscribers.”
